SoulFetch offers a new and playful way of learning how to recognize musical structures like Intervals, Triads, Chords and Scales.
SoulFetch is designed for musicians at every skill level and age, whether you play jazz, metal, folk, pop or classical music, whether you are a choir singer, a baroque soloist, a music teacher, a jazz improviser or just taking your first recorder lessons.
SoulFetch uses the Solfege Method, wich means you don´t have to know the names of the notes, intervals, chords or scales. SoulFetch lets you focus on the main point of any ear training: Hearing.
Why does it work?
The short version is: "Because Happy Birthday" always starts on the syllable "So", no matter what key we are in.
The long version: Nearly all music is based on a root note, which is the note that feels the most resolved and likely the note a song ends on. All the other notes relate to that root note, each in their own unique way. This unique relation stays the same, no matter in which octave a note is played.
That means, instead of learning the whole piano key layout, you only have to learn twelve syllables to identify all the notes that exist in the western notation system.
SoulFetch takes you on a ride from telling two of those syllables apart to identifying all of them.
For this, SoulFetch has four playing modes. In each of these modes you can decide whether you want to play with syllables, interval numbers or note names.
SoulFetch has a Learning Mode, which will show you the syllables that make up progressively complicated musical phenomena like chords and scales.
SoulFetch also has a Training Mode which lets you evaluate yourself.
SoulFetch has an Arcade Mode, which lets you play against time and try to get the highest score.
SoulFetch has a Two-player Mode, in which you can compete against your friends.
SoulFetch is developed as a one-person project that took loads of work. For this reason, only those program features that are stricly necessary for learning are free to play. At a modest price, you can buy the Arcade and Two-player Modes.
